Stonehill Kennel and Farm has an immediate opening for an energetic, motivated, and organized individual to be a part of our kennel assistant team! Our kennel assistants must love dogs, be willing to train, and must take pride in their ability to provide a comforting stay for our pets! Prior experience with dogs is not a prerequisite, but you must be willing to train and be able to pick up on a fast paced working environment quickly!
Must be 18 years of age or older, have reliable transportation, and be able to work weekends. Dog kenneling knowledge and/or skills we are looking for or will develop with you:
- Understanding of various pathogens in a kennel environment and how to prevent them
- Required vaccinations and why we require them
- How to clean, sanitize, and set up a kennel for a dog’s boarding success
- How to feed, give medication, and provide a comfortable environment for a dog’s boarding stay
- How to properly record, chart, and upkeep a boarding dog’s kennel information
- Maintain a clean and organized working space, and set yourself and your coworkers up for success
- Cleaning can and will encompass a large portion of the day; you must be comfortable cleaning various pet messes!
- How to properly bathe, dry, trim nails, and perform various other basic grooming aspects
- This job includes being on your feet for the duration of your shift as well as bending, lunging, lifting, and moving dogs of various sizes
